Congratulations! It is now six months since your pregnancy test came back positive.

You are now just a few months away from holding your bundle of joy in your arms. By this time, you are probably feeling mega hungry, losing sleep and worrying about the things that you need to buy as you await your baby.

Anxiety and stress are risky for both you and your baby. It may, however, help more once you have an idea of what you expect during this month. Read on to understand how the week 23-27 of pregnancy will be for you and your baby.

Common Pregnancy Symptoms at Six Months

By the time you are six months pregnant, your belly is protruded, and your pregnancy glow is evident. You can see ideas on maternity wear here. The belly also becomes well-rounded thus causing the load on your back muscles and spine to increase. Other symptoms that you might have during this time will be similar to those that you had in your fifth month of pregnancy. 

Other signs that you may have at this time are such as:

  • Itchy skin around your breasts, tummy, thighs, and buttocks
  • Swelling and puffiness around your hands, face or feet
  • Dizziness 
  • Unsteady feeling on your feet
  • Insomnia
  • Varicose veins

You will also realize that you will have gained some weight at this time since your baby is growing. Track your weight using our weight tracker here. For this reason, spending most of your time on your feet may feel uncomfortable. Therefore, ensure that you put your feet up whenever possible.

Week by Week Baby Developments 

Week 23

Your baby is now the size of a large mango

It measures 11.5 inches long and weighs about 454 grams

Baby can feel your movements just as you can feel him under your skin.

Week 24

About the size of an ear of corn, your baby is about 11.75 inches long and weighs around 565 grams 

Its facial features are more distinct and he can now raise his eyebrows.

Week 25

Your baby is now 13.5 inches long and weighs about 680 grams 

Wrinkled skin starts to smoothen out making your baby look more and more like a newborn

Week 26

Your baby is now the size of a scallion (long-necked onion) and is currently 14 inches long

It weighs about 790 grams. 

Baby can open its eyes and if you’re having a boy, then his testicles begin to descend this week.

Week 27

Baby is about the size of the head of a cauliflower, measuring 14.5 inches long and weighs about 900 grams. He is now able to open and close the eyes and can sleep and awake periods. You baby can also suck his fingers.
